This weekend is going to be busy one as Para Fencing Satellite Tournament gets underway in Hong Kong, China on 12 – 13 April 2025 with Paralympic and Asian Para Games stars in the roster.
The tournament holds significance as it is part of the world ranking competitions for seniors, U-23 and U-17 categories.
A strong local presence is expected at the event, which will also have fencers from Japan, Chinese Taipei, India, Argentina among others.
Seven-time Paralympic champion Yu Chui Yee will spearhead the home team competing in all three women’s individual and team epee, foil and sambre events.
Yu, who competed in her sixth Paralympic Games at Paris 2024, grabbed several medals Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games – two bronzes at women’s individual epee and foil events, a silver in women’s foil team and a bronze in women’s sabre team.
Accompanying Yu in the team will be other Asian Para Games medallists Fan Pui Shan, Lam Ka Man, Tang Ching Ching, Sean Glass among others. The Para Fencing Satellite Tournament will begin on Saturday (12 April) with the epee and foil events while the sabre events will be played on Sunday (13 April).
