The election for the Athletes Committee will take place during the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games (18-23 October).

All accredited athletes participating at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games are eligible to vote until October 23, with the results to be announced on October 24, 2026.

Voting will be conducted through an online platform, with QR codes providing access to the voting platform displayed at designated venues.

To be eligible, candidates had to be an active athlete, having competed in the Asian Para Games, or intending to compete at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

The Athletes’ Committee is designed to ensure that the athletes’ voice is central to the APC’s decision-making process. It has five members elected by the athletes participating at every summer Asian Para Games.

The five elected members then choose a Chairperson, who will replace the current Athletes’ Committee chair Hiroyuki Misaka (Japan).

Misaka said: “One of my primary missions as Athletes’ Committee Chair was to ensure the success of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, hosted in my home country, by making sure the voices of athletes were heard. Through ongoing dialogue with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), I believe I was able to contribute to creating an accessible and welcoming environment for the Games.

“I hope that the new candidates will further advance the Paralympic Movement in Asia. I look forward to seeing a committee composed of members with diverse backgrounds spanning different countries, genders, impairments, and sports disciplines and hope that the selection process is fair.”

Two additional members can be co-opted onto the committee, subject to APC Executive Board approval, to ensure that the diversity of the Paralympic movement in Asia is represented.
