Asian Paralympic Committee Hold Final Executive Board Meeting Before Rio 2016

The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) have today concluded their final Executive Board (EB) meeting before the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

At the meeting, EB members discussed and provided feedback on a draft of the new APC constitution, heard updates on the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games Organising Committee and agreed a new Awards Policy for APC.

The meeting started on Wednesday 15th June and in an opening address, APC President Mr. Majid Rashed thanked the Government of Dubai who had invited the EB members to attend sports events going on in the city during Ramadan. He also thanked the sport authority of Youth Welfare, who weren’t able to attend the opening session due to elections. Finally Rashed thanked the UAE NPC who were represented by Theban Salem Almuhairi (Secretary General), for the support they had given to the preparations of the meeting.

Commenting at the conclusion of the two days, Rashed stated:

This has been another successful meeting that is ensuring we are keeping on track with the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan. We are facing quite a few challenges but we are excited for the future and our next events, especially the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games. I would like to wish all our NPC members and their athletes the very best of luck in Rio 2016. We hope that they will bring lots of medals back to our region.

The next EB meeting will be in Bangkok in November just before the APC General Assembly.
