APC signs MoUs with Japan and Korea Anti-Doping Agencies to strengthen clean sport across Asia

The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) and Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA), marking an important step towards strengthening clean sport initiatives and promoting integrity within the Paralympic Movement across Asia.

The agreements were signed by APC President Majid Rashed, JADA Chairman Prof. Yoko Tanabe and KADA President Dr. Yun Jun Yang, respectively, reinforcing the organisations’ shared commitment to protecting athletes and ensuring fair competition.

The partnerships aim to strengthen anti-doping education and testing strategies, enhance technical expertise and develop a skilled anti-doping workforce through knowledge sharing, training programmes and collaborative initiatives across the continent.

Under the MoU with JADA, the two organisations will cooperate in developing anti-doping education programmes, training Anti-Doping Educators and supporting workforce capacity-building initiatives in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards.

The cooperation will also focus on providing technical guidance and educational support during the Asian Para Games and Asian Youth Para Games, while facilitating the exchange of expertise, resources and best practices to promote clean and values-based sport.

Meanwhile, the agreement with KADA will strengthen cooperation in anti-doping, testing support and workforce development, including training of Doping Control Officer, as well as knowledge exchange in areas such as Athlete Biological Passport.

KADA may also nominate qualified experts to support APC’s anti-doping programmes during the Asian Para Games and Asian Youth Para Games, subject to mutual agreement.

APC President Majid Rashed welcomed the partnerships, highlighting the importance of education, awareness and international cooperation in protecting the integrity of Para sport.

“Clean sport is fundamental to the Paralympic Movement. Every athlete deserves the opportunity to compete on a fair and equal playing field, knowing that their hard work, dedication and achievements are protected.

“These partnerships with JADA and KADA are an important step towards strengthening our anti-doping programmes across Asia. Through education, knowledge sharing and capacity building, we want to empower our athletes, coaches and National Paralympic Committees with the awareness and resources needed to uphold the highest standards of sporting integrity.

“We sincerely thank JADA and KADA for their cooperation and commitment. Together, we hope to build a stronger culture of clean sport and ensure that the next generation of Para athletes can compete with confidence, fairness and pride,” said Rashed.

The agreements, which will remain valid for four years, also reflect APC’s continued efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation with leading anti-doping organisations and build sustainable programmes that support athletes, coaches and technical personnel across its member National Paralympic Committees. With the Asian Para Games and Asian Youth Para Games serving as the continent’s leading Para sport events, the partnerships are expected to play an important role in promoting anti-doping awareness and supporting the delivery of fair and clean competitions.
