Everyone at the Asian Paralympic Committee is shocked and saddened at the news about Siamand Rahman’s passing aged 32.
He achieved much in his career, including two Paralympic Gold medals, three Asian Para Games gold medals and lifted 310kg to break the World Record in his weight category which earned him title of the World’s Strongest Paralympian. He was aiming to win his third Paralympic Gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
APC President Majid Rashed said: “Siamand’s many achievements demonstrate what a superb athlete he was but away from the competition arena he was a lovely, gentleman who always had time for everyone. He has gone too soon and will be much missed by us all. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and teammates.”
