APC Organises Retreat for Officials And Volunteers

KUALA LUMPUR – The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) recently held a retreat and briefing session for key officials, staff and volunteers several who will form the 70-plus APC team heading to Incheon, Korea for the Asian Para Games.

The Asian Para Games takes place from 18 to 24th Oct, two weeks after the conclusion of Asian Games, featuring some 4,000 athletes and officials from 41 Asian nations affiliated to APC.

The 2-day weekend retreat at the coastal town of Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan, provides insights for members on their roles and responsibilities during the Games.

APC President Dato’ Zainal Abu Zarin, in his speech, reminded members on their roles, expectation and tasks in Incheon, which is to carry the good name of APC as well as working closely with local organising committee. APC Secretary General Ms. Malini meanwhile, provided an overview of the Games operation which covered various organisational aspects of the Games.
APC and IAPGOC are working hand in hand in ensuring the successful organisation of the Games which will feature 23 sports, four more than the last Games in Guangzhou.
Apart from secretariat officials and staff, APC team are made up of professional volunteers in specific functional areas including Games organisation, secretariat, administration, sports management, classification, medical and science, anti-doping, media and communications, broadcasting, protocol and ceremonies, NPC services and Information Technology.
