Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Athletes’ Committee Chairperson Jeong Min Lee attended the first ever International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports: Current State and Prospects for Development” held in Kazakhstan on September 19 and 20, 2019.
The main objective of the Conference was to exchange experience and views on the main areas of Adaptive Physical Training and Sports, to discuss prospects and problems of improving the system of adaptive physical training and sports in modern conditions as well as talk on the possibilities of introducing research results into practice.
Lee, who represented APC at the conference, presented a report on current status and prospects for the development of the Asian Para Games and the role of the Athletes’ Committee of the Asian Paralympic Committee.
“It’s amazing to be part of the conference. It was a very healthy discussion where we heard several reports on the role of Adaptive Physical Education in socialisation and psychophysical development of children with special needs, its development in nations, and how it will impact the social problems of a state. I spoke on the role of APC Athlete Committee and what we are doing and trying to do in the next four years.
“With the kind of interest and awareness here, I can see the better future for adaptive sports development in Kazakhstan,” said Lee, who was a member of the South Korea Paralympic Rowing team and also competed at PyeongChang 2018 in Para-biathlon.


Vice President of the Paralympic Committee of the Russian Federation Yevseyev Sergey Petrovich was among the participants and presented a report on ‘Adaptive Physical Education in the solution of the state’s socially important problems.’
Mustafayev Sadyk Shonmurynovich, representing Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke on the problems of physical education in special medical groups in secondary schools.
As many as 400 attendees including students and faculty from Eurasian National University and several State Universities attended the Conference, which was organised by the Sarnruk Kazyna Trust Social Development Fund, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the National Paralympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Post the Conference, Lee also met with Executive Director of Kazakhstan Paralympic Committee, Mr. Yerlan Suleimenov and discussed the prospect of Winter Sports in Kazakhstan.
