The National Paralympic Committees of China, Japan and Republic of Korea gathered in Tokyo recently and discussed future cooperation, during the fifth China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Sports Ministers’ Meeting on 14 and 15 December 2024.
Thanks to the efforts of NPC Japan and the support of Asian Paralympic Committee’s East-Asia sub-regional members, topics related to sports for persons with disabilities were included into the agenda of the Ministers’ Meeting for the first time. The meeting marked Para sports being incorporated into the regular sports exchange mechanism of Japan, China and Republic of Korea.
Prior to the Ministers’ meeting, a Trilateral Directors’ Meeting on Sports was held in which NPC of China, Japan and ROK agreed on promoting sports personnel exchanges, strengthening athlete protection policies, and jointly promoting sports and Para sports.
The three NPCs hope to sign an MOU on common interest in due course. The NPCs also showed commitment in enhancing cooperation and making more contributions to the development of Para sports Movement in East Asia and Asian region.
