The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) has officially recognized the NPC Iran Academy as an APC Centre of Excellence, marking a significant milestone in the development of Paralympic Movement in the region.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the APC General Assembly & Conference in Astana, Kazakhstan on 12 August, with APC President Mr. Majid Rashed and NPC Iran President Dr. Ghafour Karegari formalizing the agreement in the presence of APC members and delegates attending the important event.
The designation highlights the Academy’s outstanding role in providing sports training, education, and world-class facilities for Para athletes, coaches, and officials. As a Centre of Excellence, the NPC Iran Academy will serve as a hub for knowledge-sharing and capacity building, strengthening the Paralympic Movement across Asia.

APC President Mr. Majid Rashed said: “The establishment of this Centre of Excellence is an important step for the Paralympic Movement in Asia. The NPC Iran Academy will play a vital role in advancing sports training, education, and facilities, ensuring that Para athletes across the region have greater opportunities to reach their full potential.”
NPC Iran President Dr. Ghafour Karegari expressed: “Asian Para Sports deserves to rise higher. We view the signing of this MoU as an important milestone in fostering cooperation and the exchange of experiences. The establishment of this APC Excellence Center will play a vital role in enhancing sporting, scientific, and human capacities, while creating new opportunities to strengthen the sporting Para Community. This initiative not only supports the growth of the Paralympic Movement but also reflects our shared commitment to advancing Para Sports across Asia. The APC Centre of Excellence in Iran will focus on delivering specialized programs in sports science, athlete development, coaching education, and inclusive sports promotion – acting as a catalyst for innovation, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration among National Paralympic Committees.
In doing so, it will help raise the performance standards, build stronger pathways for youth participation and contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the Paralympic Movement in Asia.
