Asian Paralympic Committee concludes Its 8th General Assembly in Astana with strategic vision for the future

The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) successfully concluded its 8th General Assembly in the city of Astana, bringing together leaders from across Asia to review progress, elect leadership, and shape the future direction of the Paralympic Movement in the region.

Held following the APC Conference and Asian Awards, the General Assembly marked a significant institutional moment, gathering delegates from over 40 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), regional partners, and international observers.

  • Reports from the APC President and Executive Board
  • Financial updates and independent audits
  • Strategic developments and regional program outcomes
  • Preparations for upcoming Asian Para Games and Youth Games

The Assembly also endorsed revised constitutional amendments aimed at improving governance, transparency, and gender representation. The gathering included a segment dedicated to updates from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), strengthening alignment between regional and global structures.

A platform for regional unity

In his closing remarks, APC President Mr. Majid Rashed emphasized:

“This Assembly is a moment for reflection, collaboration, and planning. Our collective efforts have left a lasting mark—not only in sporting arenas but also in communities, policies, and mindsets. The true measure of our work lies in the opportunities we create, the perceptions we change, and the doors we open for the next generation”

The event was hosted in close collaboration with the Kazakhstan National Paralympic Committee, whose hospitality and logistical support were praised by attendees.

As the General Assembly concluded, member nations departed Astana with a shared commitment to strengthening inclusion, athlete development, and organizational excellence throughout the continent.
