The Asian Paralympic Committee have announced that the 8th General Assembly will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan from 10 to 15 August 2025. This will be the first time that the country hosts the event.
Representatives from the 45 Asian National Paralympic Committees will gather in Astana to be part in the assembly, at the facilities of the Hotel Hilton.
The event will be attended by more than 200 attendees including Athletes, delegates and guests representing 45 NPCs, APC Executive Board Members, Standing Committees, Representatives from International Federations, Games Organising Committees and International Sports Organizations.
It will be held over four business days and will start with two days of a Conference with presentations and workshops on various topics. This will be followed by the formal business of the General Assembly, where the strategic plan and financial accounts will be presented for approval.
In addition, the Asian Awards will be presented, the ceremony of the best of Asian athletes, Asian Official and photographer who had an outstanding performance since the last edition of the awards.
There are seven categories that will be awarded: Best Asian Male Athlete, Best Asian Female Athlete, Best Asian Team Performance, Best Asian Youth Athlete (male or female), Exemplary Asian Official, Best Photography and Outstanding NPC Performance.
President of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kairat Boranbayev, said:
“It is a great honour to host the General Assembly. This provides our country with a unique opportunity to become a coordination hub for discussing key issues related to the development of the Paralympic movement in Asia. We are confident that the decisions and initiatives shaped during the Assembly will serve as a powerful impetus for the development of sports and the strengthening of cooperation “.
The APC president, Mr. Majid Rashed, expressed: “I’m pleased that our 8th General Assembly will be in Astana and I’d like to thank the Kazakhstan NPC to host our event. The General Assembly is a unique opportunity to discuss key issues related to para-sport in Asia, to learn from each other and to build an effective shape of the Paralympic movement in the region. With major events such as the Asian Para Games coming up, I think it will be a productive and successful event”.
