A delegation from the Asian Paralympic Committee led by President Majid Rashed is on a tour to Uzbekistan where they met with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in Tashkent.
The meeting happened during the APC delegation’s visit to the country to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Olympic and Paralympic Village in Uzbekistan, Tashkent.
During the meeting, Mirziyoyev praised the leadership of Rashed for the Asian Paralympic Movement, which in recent years has made remarkable progress in supporting the people with impairment and providing them the appropriate sports environment for their comprehensive integration into society.
Rashed, meanwhile, thanked the Uzbek President for his invitation to attend the inauguration of the centres and his great support for the sports movement in Uzbekistan, especially the Para sport.

He also praised the country’s decision on equality between Olympic and Paralympic athletes in all fields, which had a significant impact on the high number of para-athletes which has reached 3,000.
The APC President also praised the efforts of Mukhtorkhon Tashkhodjaev, President of the Uzbekistan Paralympic Committee, for developing an ambitious strategy to promote Para sports across the country.
Rashed also expressed the pride of athletes in Asia for the Uzbek government’s decision that Uzbekistan will host the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games for the first time in the history of the Para sports movement. “This confirms the directions of the Uzbek President to fully integrate the spectrum of society,” he added.
