The 1st Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Women in Sports Seminar 2025 was held successfully in New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei, on 1 and 2 August, marking an important milestone in the regional effort to enhance female representation and leadership across all levels of Para sport.
Hosted by the Chinese Taipei Paralympic Committee (CTPC), the Seminar brought together passionate female leaders from across Asia, including women from government bodies, National Paralympic Committees, sports federations, coaches, and athletes to drive forward a more inclusive future in Para sport.
The Seminar served as a vital platform for sharing insights, experiences and strategies to empower women and strengthen gender equality in the Paralympic Movement with participants taking part in various topics.

The topics included:
– The Journey of Female Coaches: Guiding and Inspiring Athletes
– Family Support and Work-Life Balance for Female Athletes
– Case Studies on Gender Equality Challenges in Sport, along with various other areas addressing women’s participation and leadership in Para sport.
APC President Majid Rashed praised the initiative, calling it a landmark moment for the Paralympic Movement in Asia.
“This Seminar marks a special moment for the Asian Paralympic family — a moment that reminds us of the incredible strength and potential of women in Para sport. Gender equality is no longer just a vision — it’s a shared journey we must continue to nurture, together. While we know progress looks different across our region, events like this bring us closer — giving us the opportunity to listen, learn, and grow stronger together.”
APC CEO Tarek Souei, who graced the Seminar, thanked the generous support and commitment of the CTPC and their President Dr. Ming-Chu Mu, who also chairs the APC Women in Sports Committee.

“We believe Para sport is stronger and more inclusive when women are fully represented and empowered. Let’s leave this Seminar not only with ideas but with the determination to build a sporting world where every woman has the chance to participate, lead, and succeed,” he added.

Among the attendees were APC Women in Sport Committee members Aishath Nazhath (Maldives), Meruyert Tlebaldy (Kazakhstan), Darika Mamytova (Kyrgyzstan) and World Ability Sport CEO Charmaine Hooper, who contributed valuable insights and regional perspectives to the Seminar.
