NPC Hong Kong, NPC Republic of Korea sign MOU to prepare for Paralympic Games and Asian Para Games

The countdown has begun for the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games  and National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and athletes are entering the final phase of their preparations.

Two NPCs, the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (HKPC&SAPD) and the NPC of the Republic of Korea are also gearing up to provide the best preparation programmes for their athletes by signing  the first ever Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations, designed to enhance preparations for the Paralympic Games and Asian Para Games.

The MoU was signed by Dr. James LAM, Chairman of HKPC&SAPD and Mr. LEE Myung Ho, President of KPC, in the presence of Mr. Majid Rashed, President of Asian Paralympic Committee.

“This is a great moment for the Paralympic movement in both the countries. The MoU is an important step towards developing parasport and encouraging para-athletes in the regions. This is an important year for us and the athletes. I wish all in the fraternity good luck for the Jakarta Games in October,” said Mr. Majid during his visit to Hong Kong.

Under the MoU, both parties will join forces to promote the Paralympic movement in their respective countries for the next four years and are hopeful that this will lead to stronger  performances in the international sports arena. The collaboration includes on-site intensive training, competition opportunities and coaching and technical official workshops.

The two NPCs also agreed to strengthen the exchange and sharing of valuable information and experience in sports science, sports medicine and classification.

Kick starting the collaboration joint training programmes for Archery, Lawn Bowls and Shooting will be arranged at the ROK Paralympic Training Centre in Incheon in August as part of the preparations for the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games, which take place in Jakarta in October.
