NPC Bangladesh granted IPC provisional membership status

In a major fillip to the Movement in the region, NPC Bangladesh is set to become the newest member in the Asian Paralympic Family after being granted provisional membership status of International Paralympic Committee.

In a letter to NPC Bangladesh President Ms. Valerei A Taylor, IPC CEO Mike Peters informed the NPC of its provisional membership status.

IPC provisional membership status means NPC Bangladesh is a provisional member of Asian Paralympic Committee and will be the 45th member once granted the full membership.

In accordance with the IPC Constitution, full membership requires the approval of the IPC General Assembly. NPC Bangladesh’s application for full membership is set to be considered at IPC’s General Assembly, expected to be held in 2023.

Congratulating NPC Bangladesh, APC President Majid Rashed, who is also an IPC Governing Board member, said: “It’s a great moment for the Paralympic Movement in Asian region. Our family is growing and we welcome them with warm hearts. I hope to see them as full member in the coming IPC General Assembly.”

Last December, NPC Bangladesh had attended the Asian Youth Para Games as independent member.
