Signage for Hangzhou 2022 APG launched

26 March 2021

The Signage Launching Ceremony for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games was held in Xihu district, Hangzhou on Friday.

During the ceremony, Mr. Zhou Feng, who is an associate professor in the Department of Visual Communication, School of Design at the China Academy of Art, spoke about the designing process and concept for the Signage.

The design concept draws inspiration from both Liangzhu Yucong (Jade relics from pre-historic Liangzhu culture in Hangzhou) to represent Hospitality, the pursuit of Excellence and the Determination to succeed, and the Tidal Bore of the Qiantang River, which symbolises Vitality.

The dominant colour for the signage is “Rainbow Purple”, used in a selection of hues.

The pictograms on the signage have soft edges to reflect the city’s gentleness and tranquility.

Congratulating the Hangzhou 2022 organisers on the launch of the beautiful Signage, Asian Paralympic Committee President Mr. Majid Rashed said: We are very happy with the launched signage for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games, which symbolizes not just the culture of Hangzhou but strong Paralympic values. This is a step forward in the progress of the Games preparations. I wish the entire team good luck in their plans ahead as we look forward to them hosting one of the best ever Asian Para Games in 2022.”
