Asian paralympic committee holds the 11th executive board meeting in kuwait.

The Executive Board (EB) of Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) today began two days of meetings covering a range of topics in Kuwait. 

Kuwait, 14 February-   The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) is holding its 11th Executive Board meeting in Kuwait, 14-15 February 2015, hosted by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

OCA President, HE Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al-Sabah Invited the Executive Board of APC to hold their 11TH meeting in Olympic Council of Asia HQ building in Kuwait. Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) President Majid Rashed confirmed the keenness of APC to strengthen ties with OCA in order to develop the Paralympic Movement and Para-Sport in Asia on solid foundations.

He also praised the considerable role of the OCA President, HE Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, in the rise of Asian sport. Rashed expressed his confidence in the productive cooperation between OCA and APC, and said that, “a strong communication network between OCA  and APC is a key in developing the Para sport movement”.  

This will be the first meeting for the new Executive Board after GA 2014. The Executive Board meeting serves  as an indicator of APC outlook towards further development of Para-sports and its athletes in Asia region, and the impact of these athletes’ achievements worldwide. 

The first day meeting will consecrate to develop the APC Strategic Plan 2015-2018 and initiating key themes that APC will share at  NPCs April’s gathering in Abu Dhabi. Rashed indicates, “The framework for the first meeting with the new Executive Board, will comprise embarking on strategic plans and goals in the next five years which includes, strengthening APC’s structure, governance and policies, empowering sports, events and athletes”. 

The second day  will be followed by a number of other topics that highlight APC’s mission within several pertinent areas such as 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games, 2017 Asian Youth Para Games, and 2016 APC General Assembly.  

Rashed concluded, “We need to work hand in hand in all areas with our affiliates in the regions of West Asia, Central Asia, South East Asia, East Asia and South Asia”.
