It is with great pleasure to announce that the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) in collaboration with NPC United Arab Emirates will organize the first Gathering for the Asian NPCs from 8th to the 12th of May 2015 in Abu Dhabi.
The 41 Asian National Paralympic Committees will carry out the first drive towards improving opportunities and organization of Para-sports at Asia region. The aim of the Gathering, in partnership with the World Academy of Sport, is to strengthen the capacity of NPCs in governance, management, leadership and sport promotion in Asia region.
Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) President Majid Al Rashed says that, “the Gathering will act as a strategic forum in which its membership will have the opportunity to have their input on a number of issues that will shape the future of the Paralympic Movement in Asia region”.
Carrying the theme “Building a stronger Organization with opportunities for All“ Rashed says, “It’s a brainstorming opportunity for the member nations, and to sit together around the same table in order to design the road map of the Paralympic movement and sports in Asia next decade including the strategic plan of the regional governing body.”
The Gathering will be hosted and organized by UAE NPC, and will be run by facilitators from World Academy of Sport and APC. “We expect the participation of between 100 and 120 participants from the 41 member nations with some guests and experts from IPC and the International Federations together with APC Board members and staff”. Mr Rashed concluded, “Being the regional governing body of the Paralympic Movement in Asia, the APC is committed to enabling Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and developing sport opportunities for all persons with a disability from beginner to elite level”.
