Bangkok To Stage Asian Paralympic Committee General Assembly

Bangkok, Thailand will stage the 4th Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) General Assembly in November 2016 it has been announced.

Taking place in the Thai capital between 28-29 November, the event will be organised by the APC with the support of the National Paralympic Committee of Thailand who will assist with on-site transportation, volunteers and visa arrangements.

The General Assembly is the supreme authority of the APC which meets every two years. It last met in December 2014 in Abu Dhabi, where elections for the APC Executive Board took place and new President Majid Rashed was elected.

Tarek Souei APC’s Chief Executive Officer, said:

We would like to thank the the Thailand Paralympic Committee for their support in organising November’s General Assembly.

It will be the first formal gathering of the APC membership since April 2015 when we held the Asian Gathering in Abu Dhabi. This will therefore be a great opportunity for members to discuss the progress made on the Strategic Plan that came out of the Gathering.

With the next three Paralympic Games in Asia and the Asian Para-Games in Indonesia in 2018, the region is well poised to for growth so it is a great opportunity to focus our minds on driving forward the Paralympic movement in Asia.

More than 150 attendees from the region’s National Paralympic Committees are expected at the Assembly. 180 people are expected to attend the APC Awards Gala Dinner which will take place during the Assembly. Here athletes and administrators who have contributed to the Paralympic Movement in Asia will be honoured.
