APC Executive Board members (EB) during the 11TH Executive Board meeting in Kuwait
The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) successfully conducted the 11th Executive Board meeting recently in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) headquarters in Kuwait, aimed to develop Paralympic movement in Asia in various aspects such as organization of the Games, athletes development and administration.
The meeting, the first organized after APC General Assembly 2014, was attended by APC President Majid Rashed, Mr. Masayuki Mizuno Vice-President,Mr. Rajesh Tomar Vice-President, Mr. Lee Yong Heng (Billy)Chairman of Sports & Development Committee, Mr. Michael Barredo South East Asia Representative, Mr. Abdel Razak Rashid West Asia Representative, and Mr You Ho Gyoung, Chairman of Athletes Committee.
Areas covered during the 11th Executive Board meeting included Games Planning and Operation, Sports, 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games, 2017 Asian Youth Para Games, and 2016 APC General Assembly.
The Executive Board (EB) reviewed the APC Strategic Plan 2015-2018 which includes the APC’s vision and aspiration, a framework of strategic goals, specific strategic priorities and objectives and tools to measure performance.
Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) President Majid Rashed confirmed in the meeting the call for bids to host APC 2016 General Assembly and 2017 Youth Paragames. Related to the APC Headquarters, EB agreed to transfer APC Headquarters from Malaysia to UAE due to the administrative difficulties of managing the office in Kuala Lumpur.
Rashed intensified to start the Communication with the local Organizing Committee (LOC) in Jakarta, for the Para Games preparation 2018.
The Executive Board (EB) have been updated from Sub-regions Representatives and the progress of 2015 sub-regions Games.
In conjunction with the meeting, there was a presentation from World Academy of Sport about the Gathering of Asian NPCs to be held in Abu Dhabi from 3rd to 7th of April.
Due to the need of having an executive personnel in the organization, the Executive Board (EB) considered the appointment of Mr. Tarek Souei as APC CEO and Acting Secretary General.
During the meeting, the Executive Board (EB) visited the facilities of OCA Kuwait and knew more about OCA structure and operations.
Rashed, concluded the meeting by mentioning the vital role of OCA saying that, “MoU will be signed soon between APC and OCA to build a long term partnership and cooperation between both Organizations”. In the light of the MoU, APC and OCA will guarantee the continued Continuous strong collaboration, and aiming to further development of Para sports in Asia region.
In a dinner hosted by NPC Kuwait, Rashed urged APC Executive Board members to be vigilant and united to face and overcome future challenges in developing the Asian Paralympic agenda.
The 12th APC Board meeting will be held during the NPCs gathering at the beginning of April in Abu Dhabi the capital of UAE.
