Asia’s biggest para sports science international seminar will be held on 18th November, 2020, hosted by Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC) with whom the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2019.
After the successful inaugural seminar last year, KPC announced that this year’s programme will be a virtual seminar which para-sport families around the world can access online.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first-ever “untact” seminar hosted by KPC will provide world-best scholars’ video lectures with their practical knowledge and expertise.
APC President Mr. Majid Rashed will welcome all of the para sport family with an online message, and this will kick off with the keynote speech of APC CEO Tarek Souei entitled “AI and inclusion of People with Disabilities.”
Rashed commented “The list of speakers from all over the world is very impressive. Their expertise in para-sport is unrivalled and I’m sure that this will be a very useful seminar that will help para-sport in Asia go from strength to strength.”
Myeong-ho Lee, KPC President, commented: “I am delighted that KPC hosts such event and continues to contribute to the Paralympic Movement. I believe that sports science is the key for sports excellence and performance in the modern era of Paralympics.”
During the first session on “A best practice in Para Sports Science,” seven presenters from four different countries will give a presentation on their field of study. The presenters are – Rory Cooper (University of Pittsburgh), Elizabeth Broad (Sport Dietitian), Jeffrey Martin (Wayne State University), Sean Tweedy (University of Queensland), Tajima Humihiro (Wakayama Medical University), Brett Smith (Durham University), and Vicky Tolfrey (Loughborough University).
The Asian Paralympic Family can access this seminar on the KPC official Youtube Channel and learn various fields of sports science including Classification, Human Engineering, Nutrition, Sport Psychology, Medical Check, Training and Test.
This event will be held on 18th November from 1pm to 6pm (GMT +9).
