The Asian Paralympic Committee Executive Board met in Hangzhou on October 20 with emphasis on the much-awaited Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games and the upcoming General Assembly in Riyadh next month.
The 31st meeting, which was opened by APC President Majid Rashed, also heard updates on APC elections, future Games, and the Strategic Plan.
Opening the meeting, APC President Majid Rashed welcomed the APC Board to Hangzhou ahead of the 4th Asian Para Games. “It’s a very exciting moment for the entire Asian Paralympic family to meet here ahead of our Games. It’s been a long wait for us, and we hope to witness one of the best-ever Games in the next few days.”
“The journey has been challenging with the postponement of the Games but here we are today just a few days away from the opening ceremony. The organising committee has done a fantastic job in creating such amazing venues with all accessible facilities. I am sure everyone is going to have a great time in the next few days,” said Rashed.
The APC President thanked the outgoing Athlete’s Committee Chair, Jeong Min Lee for his efforts, praising all his accomplishments, which included arranging the first Athletes Forum. He wished luck to the nominees for the next Athletes Committee, the election of which also got underway in the Athletes’ Village and also the nominees for the Sub-regional representatives’ election which will take place on 24th October.
During the one-day meeting, the Board also discussed various aspects regarding the upcoming APC General Assembly, Conference and elections in Riyadh, Saudi Aradia, and the recently held IPC Gathering and General Assembly in Manama, Bahrain.
The Executive Board also heard reports from the Future Games organisers including Tashkent 2025 Asian Youth Para Games and Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, APC standing committees and sub regional representatives.
